How to ensure your Travel Advisor plans your perfect vacation

I’m excited to share that A Simple Life Travel LLC has recently celebrated its first anniversary! I’m thrilled to report that we not only met but exceeded my expectations for new clients and trips booked. I can’t wait to see what the next year has in store.

Over the past year, I’ve embarked on numerous adventures, exploring cruise ships and destinations to provide my clients with the best recommendations. I’ve also dedicated countless hours to training and coursework through our suppliers, ensuring I can find the perfect vacation for each client.

The most valuable lesson I’ve learned on my journey as a Travel Advisor is that understanding the details—along with my clients’ wants, needs, and expectations—is essential to creating the perfect getaway.

Here are things you should share with your Travel Advisor to make sure your trips are unforgettable.

Travel Dates: Provide your preferred travel dates, including flexibility if available, and the length of your trip.

Travel Type: Let your advisor know if you are interested in a Cruise, All Inclusive resort, River Cruise, etc.

Destination Preferences: Let your advisor know if you have specific places you want to visit or if you’re open to suggestions based on your interests.

Budget: Share your budget for the trip, including accommodations, activities, flights, and meals, so the advisor can tailor options within your range.

Travel Style: Explain your travel preferences—whether you prefer luxury, adventure, relaxation, or cultural experiences. Let them know if you like independent exploration or guided tours.

Accommodation Preferences: Specify the type of accommodations you prefer (hotels, resorts, vacation rentals, etc.), desired amenities (ocean view, private pool), and location (beachfront, city center). For cruises, what type cabin (inside, ocean view, balcony, suite).

Transportation Needs: Let your advisor know if you need assistance booking flights, car rentals, or other forms of transportation like trains, ferries, or private transfers.

Activities and Interests: Share your hobbies and preferred activities, such as hiking, snorkeling, visiting museums, or enjoying fine dining. Highlight any special events or experiences you’d like to include.

Travel Companions: Inform the advisor about who is traveling with you (family, friends, solo) and their needs, such as children, seniors, or anyone with mobility issues.

Dietary Restrictions and Special Needs: Mention any dietary restrictions, food allergies, or special requests like accessibility requirements or medical conditions.

Purpose of Travel: Whether it’s a honeymoon, family reunion, adventure trip, or simply relaxation, let your advisor know the purpose of your vacation to plan appropriately.

Previous Travel Experiences: Share any previous travel experiences, both positive and negative, to help the advisor understand your preferences and what to avoid.

Preferred Pace: Let them know if you prefer a packed schedule with lots of activities or a slower, more relaxed pace with time to unwind.

Cultural or Personal Preferences: If you have any specific interests in cultural experiences (like local cuisine, art, or festivals), or if you’d prefer certain types of destinations (quiet and secluded vs. vibrant and lively), mention them.

Travel Documents: Confirm if you have a valid passport or visa requirements, and if any travel insurance is needed.

Loyalty Programs: If you have loyalty programs with airlines, hotels, or cruises, share this information to take advantage of potential upgrades or discounts.

The more details you provide, the better your travel advisor can create a customized vacation that fits your dreams and expectations.
